ABOUT
Supersun are a Glasgow-based band, made up of three siblings and a cousin, delivering blood-harmonies in a new Scottish youth scene. Through melodic instinct, and a clear sense of identity, their charming modern psych-pop draws from 90s rhythm and 60s melody, creating something uniquely nostalgic yet radically new.
Celebrating both Glasgow’s heritage and future, Supersun are about more than just music. Embodying and driving a new scene and redefining Scottish music in the 2020s, the band are rising with a blossoming cultural movement, with the ambition to shape and champion the culture around them, and ultimately become the sound of Glasgow today.
After creating the foundations of their own underground youth scene and building momentum through their night, The Cabbage, Supersun hit the ground running with a debut full band show alongside Glasgow icons, BMX Bandits, and rising group, The Cords. Since then, they have quickly built further momentum, securing appearances across the UK, including key cultural moments such as Record Store Day at Mono, Glas Goes Pop, Freakender, Tenement Trail, and Manchester Pop Festival. Additionally, the band are getting ready to go on tour with The Bluetones on their 30th anniversary of Expecting to Fly.
Their passion for both Scottish musical heritage and the new scene is reflected in their performances alongside figures such as Gerry Love (Teenage Fanclub), James Kirk (Orange Juice), and vinyl parties with Chris Geddes (Belle and Sebastian), while also headlining their own club night as it moves to McChuills - anticipated as a culturally significant night for the youth culture and beyond who subscribe to the growing scene.
Their debut DIY single, ‘Shine On’, released exclusively as a physical release with Monorail, sold out three times back-to-back on the first day it was stocked. It is now ready to be rolled out to independent shops across Glasgow as part of a wider campaign to connect with and support local shops, and to stock vinyl in unusual places such as clothes shops and bars.
Supersun are laying the foundations for what is shaping up to be a fast-emerging and exciting moment in Glasgow culture and 2020s music.
